Rainforest Action Network
“Rainforest Action Network envisions a world where each generation sustains increasingly healthy forests, where the rights of all communities are respected, and where corporate profits never come at the expense of people or the planet.”
“Our corporate campaigns seek to push companies to balance profits with principles, to show that it is possible to do well by doing good. We publicly applaud and support political and corporate leaders who show strong leadership and innovation in advancing sustainability. Sadly, many companies require more motivation. Our campaigns leverage public opinion and consumer pressure to turn the public stigma of environmental destruction into a business nightmare for any American company that refuses to adopt responsible environmental policies. But much more needs to be done. For our society to truly break its oil and coal addictions, protect endangered forests, and promote human rights and sustainable finance, everyone must get involved.”

“Rainforest Action Network campaigns for the forests, their inhabitants and the natural systems that sustain life by transforming the global marketplace through education, grassroots organizing and non-violent direct action.”
“Since it was founded in 1985, the Rainforest Action Network has been working to protect rainforests and the human rights of those living in and around those forests. From the beginning, RAN has played a key role in strengthening the worldwide rainforest conservation movement through supporting activists in rainforest countries as well as organizing and mobilizing consumers and community action groups throughout the United States…
“RAN works with environmental and human rights groups in 60 countries, sharing information and coordinating the U.S. sector’s role in worldwide campaigns to protect the rainforests and their inhabitants. Through financial contributions and networking services, RAN supports the efforts of indigenous and environmental groups in tropical countries to achieve ecologically sustainable solutions within their own regions.”
