Perspectives on Global Development: Shifting Wealth examines the impact of the rise of large emerging economies on development, poverty and inequality. A structural transformation of the global economy has been taking place in the last 20 years. The world’s centre of economic gravity has moved towards the east and south, from OECD members to emerging economies, a phenomenon this report calls “shifting wealth”. Although the process has been underway for the past 20 years, the opportunities and risks for poor countries are only starting to be understood.”
